Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer – Electrical to lead the design, development, and delivery of electrical systems across a range of projects. The successful candidate will bring deep technical expertise, strong project ownership, and the ability to mentor junior engineers while liaising with clients, contractors, and cross-disciplinary teams to ensure designs are safe, compliant, and delivered on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of electrical systems, including power distribution, low/medium voltage systems, lighting, controls, and instrumentation
• Prepare and review electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, load calculations, cable sizing, and equipment specifications
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., AS/NZS, IEC, NEC, local statutory requirements)
• Conduct technical reviews of design packages produced by junior and intermediate engineers
• Manage electrical design scope, budget, and schedule for assigned projects
• Coordinate with mechanical, structural, and civil engineering teams to ensure integrated, coordinated designs
• Liaise directly with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies to clarify requirements and resolve technical issues
• Conduct site visits, inspections, and commissioning support as required
• Identify opportunities for design optimization, cost savings, and improved constructability
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and graduate engineers
• Contribute to the development of internal design standards, templates, and best practices
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, and documentation for project deliverables
• Support tender and proposal preparation, including scoping and estimating electrical works

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline)
• Minimum 7–10 years of experience in electrical design engineering, with demonstrated project leadership
• Professional Engineer (PE) license / Chartered Engineer status or working toward equivalent registration (as applicable in region)
• Strong knowledge of electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, Revit MEP, ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or equivalent)
• Solid understanding of relevant electrical codes and standards
• Proven experience managing multiple projects and competing priorities
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to clients and stakeholders

Preferred Skills

• Experience in [specific sector — e.g., industrial/manufacturing, data centers, renewable energy, infrastructure]
• Familiarity with power systems studies (load flow, short circuit, arc flash analysis)
• Experience with SCADA, PLC, or automation/control system integration
• Prior experience mentoring or leading a small design team
• Project management certification (e.g., PMP) is a plus
