Responsibilities
This position entails drafting of legal documents clearly and concisely, creating solutions using legal knowledge and commercial judgement to advise and support our local and international projects. You will also be working as part of the cross-border and interdisciplinary teams to advise on corporate transactions involving compliance with local laws and business requirements, structuring of international deals and execution of transactions, together with external counsels where required.
The Contracts Manager is also responsible for overseeing commercial and contractual aspects related to the main contract and subcontracts, managing any commercial and contractual risk.
In addition:
· Provide contractual advisory and support from the commercial perspective to the project through all stages: construction, subcontracting, completion and hand-over.
· Proactively engage in continuous improvement and review of existing processes, systems and policies that may support the project’s contract management and administration.
· Identify, assess and manage / advise on contractual risk.
· Manage contractual claims, disputes, settlements and resolution.
· Possess interpersonal skills to manage internal and external stakeholders, thinks strategically and critically, exercising judgement after consideration for all aspects.
· Possess analytical and problem-solving skills.
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in law with at least 5 years practice in a law firm and proven legal skills, combined with a strong reputation for providing. commercial solutions, and excellent transactional and management skills.
· Must have worked in Singapore for at least 5 years.
· Has good knowledge in construction/contract law & different standard forms of contracts eg.: PSSCOC, SIA, LTA, REDAS, FIDIC, NEC, etc.
· Must be conversant and have in-depth knowledge of PSSCOC.
· Knowledge and experience in Shipbuilding contracts will be advantageous.
· Experience in handling disputes (Construction & Shipbuilding) and their proven record.
· Candidates with a valid legal practicing certificate will be advantageous.
